Professionals join forces to help local young people plan for their futures

Herefordshire Council and Hereford Jobcentre Plus are inviting young people to come and talk to employers and learning and skills professionals about career opportunities, at the Shirehall, Hereford on 14 March from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

It’s Your Future is the first of a number of events planned to take place this year across the county.  Designed for young people aged 16 to 24, the aim is to provide up-to-date information on education and training, apprenticeships, employment opportunities, guidance on how to find employment and help with a range of personal issues.  Those attending will have the opportunity to discuss their personal needs with experts and gain an understanding of what training and support is available to them.  Over 600 young people are expected to attend on the day.

The event has attracted over 35 employers from the private and public sector, education and training providers and service providers, all eager to help young people from Herefordshire plan for their future.

This is the first in what will hopefully be a series of joint events aimed at helping the young people of Herefordshire find employment. It will also support the forthcoming launch of the government’s Youth Contract. The Youth Contract is designed to provide additional support form young people aged 18 to 24 and is being launched in April.
