Paralympian homecoming

On Saturday 29 September Herefordshire welcomed home its paralympian athletes. The athletes were cheered by over 500 people as they made their way into High Town.

The Chairman of Herefordshire Council, Councillor Olwyn Barnett and the Mayor of Hereford, Councillor Brian Wilcox gave a formal welcome to Herefordshire's paralympians who earned one gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the 2012 Games.

Josie Pearson won a gold medal in the discus, breaking the existing world record. Nyree Kindred collected the silver medal in the 100m backstroke and Sascha Kindred scooped the silver medal for the 200m individual medley. James Bevis was awarded the bronze medal for the mixed 10 metre air rifle prone. The GB Blind Football team finished seventh overall in the 5-a-side tournament.
