Council publishes its equality in employment report

This month sees the publication of Herefordshire Council’s 2013 equality in employment report.

The report is a legal requirement of the Equality Act 2010, which places a duty on public service providers to ensure they play their part in promoting and implementing equality of opportunities for their employees regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or disability.

Councillor Philip Price, deputy leader of Herefordshire Council, said: “As a public service provider and one of the county’s largest employers, it’s important to adhere to the Equality Act 2010 to ensure we have a balanced workforce and eliminate any unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation within our organisation.”

“The council is committed to employing a diverse workforce, which enables us to understand and relate to our communities across the county.”
