Go wild in the woods this summer at Queenswood Country Park

If you or the kids are stuck for something to do this summer, try summer holiday fun at Queenswood Country Park, whether the heat wave continues or not!

Throughout the holidays visitors to Queenswood can follow the Bees in the Trees Trail and help Bizzie Bee to pollinate the woodland flowers and learn more about just how amazing bees really are with this new fun interactive trail. Get your trail answer sheet and a bee mask from the National Trust Shop and Information Centre at Queenswood for £2 per child.

If you fancy being creative you can join a countryside ranger for ‘Summer Makes in the Woods’ every Thursday afternoon throughout August from 2pm to 4pm.

Hannah Dalton, countryside ranger, said: “Anyone can come along and make an amazing creation to take home! Activities will include kite making, natural mobiles, lanterns and light catchers, wizards hats and wizard staffs/magic wands. There is a suggested donation of £1 per child for this event but no need to book, just come and find me in the picnic area and join in!”

If you and your child are more of an intrepid explorer then book your place on the Queenswood Wildlife Safari on Sunday 11 August. Arrive at 10.30am and join the rangers to hunt for some of the hidden summer inhabitants from larger creatures to mini-beasts. This event is free but booking is a must for this popular event. Please contact the National Trust Shop and Information Centre at Queenswood on 01568 797853.

Queenswood also has a regular kids club that meet once a month on a Saturday morning 10am to 12pm. Queenswood Adventure Club is for 7 to 13 year olds without their parents and sessions cost £6 per child.

Hannah added: "If your children like exploring, trying new things and playing in the woods I highly recommend the Queenswood Adventure Club. The new dates are 17 August, 14 September, 12 October and 9 November. Get in touch if you would like more information on 01432 260240.”
