Members of the Planning Committee at Herefordshire Council gave the go ahead for the £11million project at their meeting on Wednesday 5th June.
Construction will start in the summer and the new school, combining the existing infants and junior school will welcome pupils in September 2014. Landscaping and other works will continue into 2015.
The work is being led by Kier Construction.
Councillor Millar is the cabinet member for children’s services. He welcomed the news
“The current buildings for Leominster infants and junior schools are the worst in the county. This new school will be among the best. It will provide a fantastic educational environment and provide the best start in life for many hundreds of Leominster children.”
“I am proud of the fact that, even when council budgets are under tremendous pressure, we are able to invest in the future of the county and in providing the best start possible for young people.”
