Deadline for businesses to claim flood funding extended

Funding for Herefordshire businesses affected by the floods between 1 December 2013 and 31 March 2014 is still available and those businesses who have suffered from flooding but who have not yet claimed any support are being reminded to apply now.

This is through the business support scheme which provides hardship funding for SME businesses impacted by the floods earlier this year, including those whose trade was affected. The new deadline for applications to be returned to Herefordshire Council is Friday 20 June.

Cllr Philip Price, cabinet member for infrastructure said: “By extending the application deadline we hope that more local businesses will come forward so that we can pass on the funding we have been allocated by central government. As this is a one-off funding opportunity and in order to avoid missing out, flood affected businesses must apply before Friday 20 June to get the support they need.”

Following the application deadline, all bids will be considered and businesses will be notified and paid as soon as possible after that date.

Furthermore, if your home or business was flooded, you can apply for grants of up to £5,000 (including VAT) to fund additional flood resilience and/or resistance measures. The deadline for the Repair & Renew grant is Thursday 31 July.

Application forms for both these schemes are available at www.herefordshire.gov.uk/community-safety/emergencies/what-to-do-after-flooding
