Primary school national offer day

Today, Thursday 16 April 2015, parents across England find out which school their children have been offered a place for in the new reception class starting September 2015.

In Herefordshire we have made 1895 offers with the following parental preference success rates:

1st preference – 1773 offers – 93.6% of total

2nd preference – 77 – 4.1% of total, with a cumulative success rate of 97.7%

3rd preference – 13 – 0.7% of total, with a cumulative success rate of 98.4%

The remaining places offered (32 or 1.6%) were to parents whose preferences could not be met and their offer was for the nearest school to their home address with spaces available.

As in previous years Herefordshire is a net importer of pupils with more pupils from neighbouring counties requesting places in Herefordshire schools than Herefordshire pupils requesting places in neighboring counties.

Currently 17 Herefordshire primary schools have waiting lists and 46 have spaces available.

Herefordshire Council has been promoting online applications this year. We had a target of 50% of families applying online. We were very pleased that actually 73% used our online facility.

NB Comparable statistics for last year (September 2014 Reception class admissions) were 1887 offers of which 94.9% were 1st preferences and 99.5% one of three preferences.
