A new free online directory of services and activities in Herefordshire

WISH is now live! To find out more visit www.wisherefordshire.org.

Groups and organisations across the county are being invited to join WISH, an exciting new venture to help Herefordshire residents find information and advice on all aspects of health, social care and wellbeing.

WISH - an online information, advice and signposting service for the county will be launched in October 2015.

It will be a service for the whole of Herefordshire where people can search for services and activities provided by communities and organisations as well as social care providers.

Advert free, it will be easy and safe for people to use and carry no annoying pop ups or cookies.

Herefordshire Council has commissioned Systems Associates to create the new web site which, as the name WISH (Wellbeing, Information, Signposting for Herefordshire) suggests, will focus on health and wellbeing.

It will form the basis for a whole new approach to information and advice in Herefordshire: people will be able to find what they need either directly online or by phoning or visiting WISH which will be based at the Hereford Library and be managed by Services for Independent Living.

Any organisation, group or activity can be listed on the site directory as long as it’s legal and can help people stay healthy and enjoy a good quality of life; for example, from finding out how to get an assessment to joining a reading club or from tai chi to recruiting a personal assistant to help with care needs.

Euan McPherson, director at Services 4 Independent Living, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for local organisations and community groups to promote the activities and services they provide, absolutely free of charge, to Herefordshire residents and by doing so will help people maintain their wellbeing and independence.”

“We are inviting organisations to start populating the online directory and have organised some events to help them do this.”

“This is the first time such an opportunity has been offered to groups in Herefordshire, so we hope you will join us in this exciting new venture.”
