Success at the Masters House
Dramatic increase in visitors to The Master’s House in Ledbury
The library in Ledbury has seen a substantial increase in visitors since The Master’s House opened in March 2015. Over 80,000 people have visited since its opening, with nearly 32,000 visitors in the last three months alone, an incredible increase of 164% from the same period last year. The Master’s House has also seen over 600 new members joining the library since March.
The new facility at The Master's House has become a real centre for cultural, heritage, and community activities with a wide programme of events taking place throughout the year. It offers a modern, accessible library in a beautiful heritage building. It also brings the library and the customer service centre together to offer a more cost effective service.
All this has been made possible by the £1,174,200 received from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the £3 million that Herefordshire Council invested in the restoration, and incredible support from the Friends of the Master’s House, Ledbury Library Development Group, and of course the wider local community.
There have been some wonderful comments received about the new facility:
“Remarkable! You have done real honour to the building but still created a bright, modern, accessible library – and everything is done to such a high standard.”
“What a lovely place – congratulations to all involved in the restoration. A really positive addition to Ledbury. As one who originally felt the place would be better demolished, I have completely changed my opinion!”
The Master’s House is definitely worth visiting, especially during the build-up to Christmas as there are specially designed gifts and Christmas cards available to buy from the Friends of the Master’s House, with all profits going towards future activities.
