Belmont Road works postponed until 3 August

National Grid statement

We would like to advise motorists that the planned gas mains replacement work on Belmont Road in Hereford has been postponed for two weeks. The work will now start on Monday, 3 August and is expected to take four weeks to complete. During that time, there will be two-way traffic lights to control the traffic on Belmont Road by the junction with Walnut Tree Avenue.

After discussions with Herefordshire Council we agreed to postpone the work until after the Three Choirs music festival which brings extra traffic into the city.

There is never a good time to work on busy roads but we ask motorists to bear with us while we carry out this essential work. We will get the job done as quickly as possible and the new pipe will make sure residents continue to have a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.

Herefordshire Council added: ‘We would like to encourage all visitors and residents to consider using alternative means of travel; taking the bus, cycling and walking where possible and to allow for extra journey time during this period.’
