Secondary School National offer day

Today, Monday 2 March 2015, parents across England will find out which school their children have been offered a place for in the autumn intake of year sevens at secondary school, which commences in September 2015.

We have made 1782 offers of places in Herefordshire schools with the following parental preference success rates:

  • 1st preference – 1692 offers – 94.95% of total
  • 2nd preference – 46 offers – 2.58% of total, with a cumulative success rate of 97.53%
  • 3rd preference – 5 offers – 0.28% of total, with a cumulative success rate of 97.81%

The balance of places offered (39 or 2.19%) were to parents whose preferences could not be met and their offer was for the nearest school to their home address with spaces available.

As in previous years Herefordshire is a net importer of pupils with more pupils from neighbouring counties requesting places in Herefordshire schools than Herefordshire pupils requesting places in neighbouring counties.

Currently four Herefordshire secondary schools have waiting lists and eight have spaces available.

We have been promoting online applications this year and by achieving 68% of all Herefordshire parental applications online we have exceeded our target of 50%.
