Council run training for interpreters

To mark International Translation Day, Herefordshire Council’s innovative language service has announced its latest training course for interpreters.

Since 2009, the council has trained over 150 people in interpreting and translation skills, which allows them to work for the Herefordshire Language Network.

The two-day unaccredited introduction to interpreting techniques course will take place in Hereford from 7 to 8 November 2015 at a small cost of £30.

Harriet Yellin, Herefordshire Council’s equality officer, said: “The course will help us boost the number of local linguists on the Herefordshire Language Network, which currently provides language services to organisations throughout the county and beyond.

“It’s a great starting point for anyone who would like to work as an interpreter, who loves using their language skills and wants to develop as an individual.”

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 20 October.  To find out more and to download an application form, please visit www.herefordshire.gov.uk/language.
