A pre-Christmas sale of surplus maps will be held at the Herefordshire Archive and Records Centre in Rotherwas on Saturday 19 November.
The original Ordnance Survey maps, dating from 1904 – 1925, will be on sale from 1pm – 4pm. Most of the maps are on the scale of 25” to the mile, each locality having its own sheet. Prices will depend on condition and will generally range from £3 – £15 per sheet.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to contribute to a purchase fund for digitisation equipment.
Rhys Griffith, Senior Archivist said: “The old maps are a great way of visualising the past and show how communities have changed over time. They also make an original Christmas gift for local history buffs.”
A wide range of second hand books on local and general history will also be on sale. Visit www.herefordshire.gov.uk/archives for more information.
