Today at Cabinet, Herefordshire councillors voted to maintain libraries across the county.
Within a tough financial climate Herefordshire Council has bucked against the national trend and has agreed to continue with its library network across the county.
The opening hours will be maintained and investment is planned to bring them up to date.
Councillor Harlow said
“We received feedback from our public consultation and discussions with user groups and we recognise that libraries are seen as an important asset to the community, with which we agree and that is why we have made our decisions today.”
This decision is in additional to the investment being made by Herefordshire Council in Hereford Library and the establishment of a new library in Ledbury part of the award winning Masters House development.
